Wairere Falls

Click for Contact Details The Wairere Falls track takes walkers through a beautiful, diverse range of natural scenery.
Besides the spectacular 153m high falls there are beautiful river falls and cascades, a fine grove
of nikau, puriri and kohekohe, and an upper section of track takes you through tree ferns
and totara in native forest. The falls lookout and summit offer magnificent views of the
valley and the Waikato Plains.In summer there are plenty of pools to wade
and paddle in, and the track can be explored further up the river.

Beautiful scenic areas with picnic tables provided for your eating pleasure. Walking
A cool casual walk taking in the beautiful Bay of Plenty scenery can be a great way to wind down.


How to Get There

The Wairere Falls walk is 10km south of Te Aroha, off State Highway 26 (Te Aroha-Okauia
Road) on Goodwin Road.



Attractions and Facilities

Wairere Falls track(Steep sections, with steps, 2-4hrs return) A well formed track from
the carpark crosses the river on bridges at several points, before climbing from the base
of the cliff. Steps lead to the top of the gorge, through a tree grove and to the falls
lookout platform (2 hours return). The track continues up, with steps and staircases,
through forest to the top of the hill,branching to a lookout (4hrs return). Return
along the same tracks.Car parking is provided at the start of the track. Toilets are
located near the carpark.

Dogs, horses, vehicles (including bicycles and motorbikes), fires, removal of plants or
animals,camping or hunting are not permitted.
