This is the website of the Department of Conservation, a government agency responsible for conservation in New Zealand. Its mission is to conserve New Zealand's natural and historic heritage for all to enjoy now and in the future.


Environment Bay of Plenty
Environment B·O·P is the brand name for The Bay of Plenty Regional Council. We were established in 1989 to manage the environmental resources - land, air, water and sea - of the region for existing and future generations. The area is rich in natural and physical resources making it a desirable place to live in, produce in and visit.

Federated Mountain Clubs of New Zealand
Federated Mountain Clubs of New Zealand (FMC) is the national association of over 100 tramping, mountaineering, skiing, mountainbiking and deerstalking clubs. We have a total of some 14,000 members. FMC's objectives are to promote these activities, to promote training and safe use of the backcountry and to promote its preservation and sound management. We also work to protect rights of access to the countryside.


Forest and Bird New Zealand
The Royal Forest and Bird Protection Society of New Zealand is New Zealand’s largest national conservation organisation. The Society's mission is to preserve and protect the native plants and animals and natural features of New Zealand.

"Exploring the Kaimai Bush" will help you to learn about some of the fungi, native flora and fauna of the Kaimai -Mamaku Forest Park. The site will also show you some of the walks that are easy for the average person to do.
