Destination Outdoors BOP

Destination Outdoors is designed to be an all in one guide to the key outdoor destinations in the Bay of Plenty. It includes sites managed by a number of organisations within the Bay of Plenty including the Department of Conservation, district and city councils and forestry companies.

Destination Outdoors is a map and website for both residents and visitors, which provides information about a range of recreational opportunities in a variety of different locations, including coastal, lakes and geothermal, urban and rural, and back country environments.

Information provided includes how to get to sites and what you can do when you are there, information about special features of the site and where you can go to get more information.

Destination Outdoors is also available as a large colour map. The map shows numbered sites and provides a summary of information about each of the sites on the reverse. The map is available at information centres, Department of Conservation offices and council offices through out the Bay of Plenty.

The Name

The name, Destination Outdoors, suggests a journey to and arrival at the outdoors. It was chosen as it reflects the recreational, environmental and educational journeys which can be taken at the destinations.

This project allows you to display these items via a search word, by the five main themes of the region (Urban-Rural, Kaimai Mamuku, Whirinaki Forest, Lakes and Geothermal, Coastal), by lots of categories, by the standard internationaly recognised icons or via a regional map.
